EU Ecodesign & Energy Labelling

Tools & Services
This portal offers guidance and tools for suppliers, dealers, and installers concerning the EU ecodesign and labelling legislation. The focus is on new regulations from 2023 to 2027, especially for heating, air conditioning, PV products, smartphones & slate tablets and white goods (tumble dryers). More tools and information will be provided depending on the finalisation of regulations by the European Commission.

The portal is funded by the EU LIFE programme, though neither the operators nor the EC are responsible for the accuracy of the information. Legal interpretations are only binding when issued by the EU court of justice.

Invitation: User satisfaction survey

The LIFE Compliance Services project team would like to invite you to fill out our user satisfaction survey: Click here to participate in the survey.

This short 5-10 minute survey aims to assess the reach and usefulness of the tools and services provided by the Compliance Services project.

It will help us improve our support for dealers, suppliers and installers with information about energy labelling and ecodesign legislation.

The survey is anonymous and is available in English, Czech, Danish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Slovak. You can find the language versions in the top right corner of the survey.

The deadline for answering the survey is May 29th 2026. Thank you!

Coming soon: New ecodesign regulation

In April 2026, member states approved a new ecodesign regulation for water heaters, with the European Parliament vote expected in autumn 2026. If adopted, the regulation is expected to apply from autumn 2028 and will replace the current ecodesign regulation (EU) 814/2013. Key changes include revised efficiency requirements, updated calculation methods, new rules on spare parts and recycling, and coverage of additional technologies and smart functionalities. The revision of the energy labelling regulation is still ongoing, but both regulations are expected to apply simultaneously. Read more here.
